Background

Over the last few years the Alberta oil sands have become a topic in the media, with people all over the world debating the pros and cons of the development of this large and valuable resource. As a large operator in the oil sands, Shell needed a way to quickly bring people up to speed with their operations.

Strut's Solution

Strut developed a fact book targeted at the media, Canadian and international governments, and even Shell employees from the far corners of the organization.

With such a large and wide-ranging topic the oil sands required a large and wide-ranging explanation. Wherever possible we erred on the side of providing more information. Diagrams, graphs and other visual explanations were developed to make complicated ideas more understandable.

The Results

Shell's Oil Sands Fact Book can bring someone up to speed on the issues incredibly quickly. With a skim of the main topic areas someone can get a broad understanding of oil sands development. With an in depth reading, the fact book offers very detailed data on the issues including land use, water and tailings.
